Sonda PTC:
   - Koeficienti Pozitiv i Temperaturës (Positive Temperature Coefficient) do të thotë që rezistenca e sondës rritet me rritjen e temperaturës.
   - Përdoren shpesh për mbrojtje termike dhe kontrolle termostatike, sepse ato reagojnë me rritje të madhe të rezistencës në një pikë të caktuar temperature, duke ndërprerë qarkun.

Në përgjithësi, sondat PTC janë të dobishme për aplikacione që kërkojnë një reagim të shpejtë ndaj ndryshimeve të temperaturës për mbrojtje ose kontroll, ndërsa sondat NTC janë të përshtatshme për matjen dhe monitorimin e vazhdueshëm të temperaturës.
